How to Get Around While You Are Here?

Take the bus on a tour of the City-

Take the DASH TROLLEY IN CHARLESTON or TAKE THE DOT (Downtown Transportation) IN SAVANNAH. Both offer free trolley rides.

  • Savannah Belles Passenger Ferry: These boats depart from Rousakis Plaza on River St. and provide ferry service between River Street and Hutchinson Island. Bicycles and strollers are welcome on board.

Modern passenger-only ferries, reminiscent of vessels seen in the harbor a century ago

  • Operating 7 days a week, from 7am to midnight
  • Three landings: Trade Center on Hutchinson Island, City Hall and Waving Girl.
  • Pet Policy – Service animals, pets in carriers and non-aggressive dogs on leashes are permitted on the Ferries
  • ADA Accessible

  • River Street Streetcar: "Dottie" is a bio-diesel fueled Melbourne streetcar, lovingly restored in Savannah. This passenger car makes a number of stops along its roughly mile long track on River Street.

  • dot Shuttle: The dot Shuttle takes passengers to many of the cultural and historic points of interest downtown, as well to and from the city's 5 public parking garages.

The CARTA bus system also operates a free trolley through the historic Charleston peninsula.

  • Route 210 (Orange) drives from College of Charleston to the Aquarium.

  • Route 211 (Green) will take you to the waterfront, Old Exchange & Provost Dungeon, and City Market

  • Route 213 (Purple) connects Brittlebank Park and Riley Stadium to historic city center.

All three routes converge at the Visitors Center, Marion Park and Charleston Museum.

The official CARTA bus stop, denoted by the green signs is where you can get on.

Drivers will not make special stops to pick up or drop off passengers. As you’re waiting at your stop, make sure you note which bus line and destination is approaching so you get on the right one! Signal to the driver that you’d like him to pick you up and you’re on your way.
